Creating Motion Blur

How to Create Motion Blur in a Still Image

Try this:

Duplicate the background layer. To the duplicate, apply motion blur in the direction you want. Then add a layer mask to that layer. Now erase *one half* of the motion-blurred image, making nice soft mask edges around the transitions. That way you get motion blur in *one* direction instead of two, and it looks a bit more like motion blur from an in-camera shot would look. Not exactly, but more like it .
